PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Dear Parents,
Well what a week at Holy Cross! Spelling Bees, several open classrooms, book parades, Math quizzes, Reading with our pre-schoolers, Grandparents/Feast day Mass and of course our picnic lunch. A huge thank you to all who could come along and join in the celebrations. Your participation in these events is what helps build such a great community. The joy on the children’s faces at seeing their parents and grandparents at school is priceless.
I would also like to pass on my sincere thanks to all of the staff at Holy Cross. They always go above and beyond to ensure that your children have so many fantastic opportunities. They are a wonderful team and a team which I am very proud of and thankful for.
Staff Development - Pupil Free Day - Friday 27 September
Just a reminder that the last day of the school term is a staff development/pupil free day, Friday 27 September. Staff will be participating in professional development on-site in the morning and off-site after lunch.
Book Fair
A huge thank you to Mrs Murray who was supported by Mrs Richardson and Mrs Busch for organising our book fair this week. The book fair not only promotes and helps create a love and passion for reading within our students but it also is a great way for the school to raise some funds to purchase new reading material for the library. Thank you to all of the parents and grandparents who purchased books from the book fair to be donated to the library. Your generosity is admired and appreciated.
Dance Champions
On Friday 23 August Tiahna and Kai from Year 5 both competed in the NSW State Irish Dance Championships. They both danced extremely well with Tiahna being the runner up in the 9 year girls championship and Kai winning in the 9 year boys championship. They have both now qualified for the first time to represent Australia in the 50th World Irish Dance Championships in Dublin Ireland in March 2020. Both will also be competing at the Australian Irish Dance Championships during the October school holiday in Canberra.
Although Tiahna and Kai dance for different dance schools they both demonstrate fantastic camaraderie in the way they support and encourage each other and as a community we are very proud of them and wish them the best for their upcoming championships in Dublin.
School Uniform
This time of the year, the weather can be quite unpredictable, warm one day and cool the next. For the remainder of this term and the first two weeks of next term parents may choose to send their children in either the full winter or the full summer uniform. Please ensure your child’s name is marked clearly on all items of school uniform.
P&F School Disco
Please find attached to this newsletter a flyer from the P&F for the School Disco next Friday evening 20 September. Thank you to our parents who have volunteered to assist and run this event.
