WORLD DAY OF PRAYER FOR THE CARE OF CREATION 2019
The students at Holy Cross Acknowledge: The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation
From September to October each year, the Christian community celebrates the Season of Creation by praying and acting together to protect our common home. Catholics unite globally to pray and protect every creature in God’s beautifully complex web of creation. The theme of this year’s Season of Creation celebration is “The Web of Life”.
In Laudato si', Pope Francis reminds of our call to mission in the care of and for God’s creation. God calls us to view creation as a ‘sacrament of communion’, and that we meet God in God’s creation.
Celebrating Our Creation Actions
At Holy Cross we have endeavoured to be part of this communion and care for creation by reviewing and updating our Environmental policy, looking after our gardens and making a conscious effort to reduce our carbon footprint by reducing our waste, reusing and recycling materials.
We are also collecting plastic bottle tops for our Lids4KIds campaign. These lids will be recycled to make prosthetic hands for children without limbs.
Our key message to all is: Remember to always enjoy, praise and rejoice in God’s marvellous creation!
