PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Feast Day of Mary of the Cross MacKillop

Last Saturday, 8 August, marked the Feast Day of Australia’s First Saint, Mary of the Cross MacKIllop.

As a school that is founded on the Josephite charism it is timely that we reflect on the lessons we can learn from St Mary MacKillop. She advocated for the poor, believed in a Catholic education for all, was able to truly forgive and had a profound trust in God. Mary saw the image of Christ in every person she encountered. We can all take something from her life.

In recent conversations with students, we have been challenging them to see the good in others. However, the ability to SEE the good in others requires people to LOOK for it. Looking for the good in others, or within a situation, is moving beyond your own insights and perceptions and trying to look at things from a broader perspective. This is not easy. It is a challenge. However, using the life and lessons of Mary MacKillop we can continue to move towards achieving this.

You may wish to pray this Prayer for Children to Mary MacKillop with your family.
