SCHOOL NEWS

Pupil Free Days 2020 - POSTPONED

All pupil free days have been postponed until further notice due to COVID restrictions.  Apologies for any inconvenience.

Father's Day

Our Father's Day stall will be held next Friday, 4 September. A huge thank you to our P&F Executive for organising the gifts and packaging. We appreciate the time these ladies have given to ensure our Dad's are acknowledged and celebrated. This year, our wonderful school support officers will be charged with setting up the stall and selling on the day.

Grandparents Day

One of our most important days, Grandparents Day, will be acknowledged in Term 4 this year.

Assemblies

Our Week 5 Assembly was a huge success as we saw 70 parents online viewing via the Zoom platform.

The new Zoom Assemblies allow parents to see students receiving awards, principal messages and continue to be a part of our school.  We are very pleased to invite parents to join us online for all of our future Assemblies. Our next Assembly is on:

2 September 2020 at 2:40 pm.  Click here to join on the day:   http://bit.ly/wk7hchassembly

Kids & Tech: Tips for Parents in the Digital Age

Set limits and encourage playtime. Media use, like all other activities, should have reasonable limits. Unstructured and offline play stimulates creativity. Make unplugged playtime a daily priority, especially for very young children.

Screen time shouldn't always be alone time. Co-view, co-play and co-engage with your children when they are using screens—it encourages social interactions, bonding, and learning. Don't just monitor them online—interact with them, so you can understand what they are doing and be a part of it.

School Managed iPad Information Session - Yr 2

We would like to remind and invite Year 2 parents to an information session on Wednesday, 2 September 2020 at 7:00pm. This information session will be held via zoom. This information session will outline the managed iPad system for 2021. We look forward to you joining us.

Gardening Club

THE FORTNIGHT THAT WAS IN GARDENING CLUB

Kindergarten

In Week 4 our Kinders investigated the difference between animals that hibernate vs those that migrate. This took place in Yalunga Garden where they listened for clues around four animals (albatross, whale, snake and pygmy possum), then played the Hibernate vs Migrate game. In Week 5, it was out to The Patch where we discussed ‘what is a farm’. The Year 5 Gardening Club Leaders conducted some peer teaching to our very excited Kinders as well as lead the Taste and Sniff session where the Kinders sampled our home-grown produce, baby carrots once again being voted the favourite.

Lunchtime Gardening Club

With a large pile of mulch to move from one side of the school to the other as well as spreading it around the garden beds, most of our participants were very excited to get involved in this activity. Those that stayed behind were our ‘snail hunters’, a small group of enthusiastic students, led by Pippa and Bella, whose sole goal is to eradicate The Patch from these slimy, hungry creatures through relocation. There was also our other breakout group, made up of mostly Gardening Club Leaders, which have been working tirelessly to get the smaller garden bed ready for planting. And to everyone’s delight, our cauliflowers were ready to harvest and the students discovered how delicious it is raw!

Stay tuned to see what we get up to next!
