PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Yesterday, we acknowledged RU OK? Day.
RU OK? Day is a day of action focused on encouraging us to take time and connect with friends, family, and colleagues. This year's theme reminds us that there is more to say after R U OK? It's about LISTENING, ENCOURAGING ACTION, and then STAYING CONNECTED, because research indicates that genuine care and concern can make a real difference.
While R U OK? does not provide crisis support or counselling services, they have created a very useful page on their website which provides links to services that can offer such support FIND HELP - Reaching Out for Support Page with the theme for 2020 focused on ‘there’s more to say after R U OK?’.
The RU OK? campaign was founded by Gavin Larkin, following the tragic suicide of his father Barry. Sadly, Gavin passed away in 2011, but the movement he sparked lives on. In the most recent episode of the Ripples podcast, Gavin’s daughter, Josie, tells us how the very simple act of asking one question has changed (and saved) countless lives over the past 11 years. It’s a fantastic and timely episode, and worth a listen.
By wearing some yellow yesterday, we came together in solidarity and prayer to support this incredibly important message, knowing through our compassion and hope that God walks with us always.
