COLLABORATIVE LEADERSHIP IMPROVING LEARNING @ HOLY CROSS
Staff Professional Development- Visit to St Joseph's, Bulli
Last Wednesday, our Year 3-6 Teachers, Mrs Anne Rowles, Mr Jeff Bõdy, Miss Emily Costello, Mr Chris Whitehall and Mrs Natalie Baker visited St Joseph's, Bulli Catholic School to observe the teachers in Years 3 and 6 teach Reading and engage in conversations around the Reading Block. This proved to be an invaluable visit and great preparation for our next session of our Teaching Reading Strategies Course that we have been undertaking since the beginning of 2021. We were extremely lucky to have this opportunity to observe teachers at Bulli who have been implementing this model for many years.
Upon returning to school we spent time collaboratively analysing student reading data, planning targeted guided reading and whole class comprehension lessons and ensuring that we had consistent practices across our primary classes for teaching reading.
