Dear Parents,
Our school days and weeks seem to be so busy with such a lot of learning and creative activities integrated into the school days.
As I have many opportunities to chat with our students and see their wonderful work, it has been an exciting week of learning. I would like to commend and thank the wonderful staff at our school, who on a daily basis work and endeavour to provide our students with the best learning environment possible. Dedicated, committed and with a great sense of teamwork and fun, our staff serve our school community with pride, passion and purpose.
Thank you for your ongoing support and enjoy your weekend.
Transition to School Playgroup
We have now completed our sessions for Transition to School for our 2020 Kindergarten students. What a welcoming opportunity for all new students and their families!!!! It has been wonderful to see the parents, carers and grandparents who have been coming along and watching our new Kindergarten students interacting during play. The Kindergarten students are familiarising themselves with the school and the other students from this cohort. The newer parents are engaging with the parents who have been here for a short time and learning some of the routines we have at Holy Cross.
The Orientation Day for all 2020 Kindergarten students and their parents will be held on Friday 15 November from 9:00 am – 10am.

Rememberance Day
11 November, 2019, also known as Armistice Day, will mark 101 years since the end of the First World War, with a range of tributes and commemorations set to take place across the country. Every year in November, the nation marks the wars that have scarred our past and the bravery of the men and women who fought them.
Remembrance Day in Australia is dedicated to Australians who died as a result of war, particularly from World War I onwards. A minute of silence is dedicated to the deceased, especially for soldiers who died fighting to protect the nation.
Many Australians stop what they are doing at exactly 11am in their local times on 11 November each year to dedicate a minute of silence for those who died in war, especially soldiers from as far back as World War I. Those who join in this act of remembrance include teachers, students, politicians, and workers.
Our students in Year 3, 4 , 5 and 6 will attend the commemorative service at Charles Harper Park.
Our Infants students will assemble in the Top Playground for a short commemorative prayer to mark this special day.

SECONDHAND UNIFORMS
If you have any items from the old sports uniform, jumpers and jackets at home, don't forget that you can hand them in to the school office. A reminder that the older style uniform will be totally phased out at the end of the year.
Holy Cross are supporting Aussie Books for Zim, who are arranging for these uniforms to be shipped to a rural, disadvantaged school in Zimbabwe. Many thanks to Johlene Morrison for organising, and Mandy Bugby in the uniform shop for sorting the clothes.

2020 FETE
We're still seeking volunteers for a few outstanding stalls for our fete next year. We especially need someone to step up for the Major Raffle and Chocolate Wheel, both significant fundraisers for the year. You will receive full support and advice from previous stallholders, who are volunteering in a different capacity this year. If you can help, please get in touch. Thank you,
Mrs Lorraine Ashley, P&F President
