Dear Parents, Carers and Friends
I trust you and your children have had a wonderful start to the 2020 school year. A special welcome to Mrs Kasandra James, teacher of Year 2, who joins our staff this year.
On Sunday, Father Paul Clark celebrated Mass with Father Patrick. It was a truly beautiful liturgy and the relevance of the Gospel message resonated so clearly with me. Since joining the Holy Cross community, I have treasured every encounter I have had with staff, students, parents and parishioners alike. Each encounter has been humbling and with every encounter the opportunity to see Christ. At the end of Mass, Father Paul asked the spirit to give me the strength to lead with Dignity, Integrity and Compassion. I hope to always lead with these qualities and whilst doing so I hope that others will see the light of Christ in me.
I am sincerely grateful for the warm welcome I have received since joining the Holy Cross Community. Please know that my door is always open. I am looking forward to a year where we work together as partners to ensure all of our students continue to improve in their learning and grow in their faith.
Kind Regards
Mrs Kaylene Duffin

2020 Kindergarten Students
Yesterday we welcomed our Kindergarten students into our Holy Cross family. A special welcome to our new Kindergarten families. Thank you to our P&F executive for coordinating a welcome morning tea for our Kindergarten families.
Opening School Mass Wednesday 12 February
Our Opening School Mass is on Wednesday 12 February at 9.15am in our Church. We are grateful for Father Paul Clark celebrating this Mass with us as we come together to ask for God’s blessings for the year ahead. At the end of Mass, we will officially welcome our new students and staff to our community and our Year 6 leaders will be presented with their Leadership badges. All families are invited to join us.
Meet and Greets
Being the first educators of your children, we invite you to meet with your child’s teacher early in the school year. The purpose of these meetings are for you to meet your child’s teacher and share pertinent information about your child that is important for his/her teacher to know. These meetings will be held on Tuesday 18 February and Wednesday 19 February. Please note that each meeting will be 10 mins. If you feel it necessary to have a longer appointment, please contact the office. Information regarding booking appointment times will be forwarded soon.
P&F Meeting
The first P&F meeting in 2020 will be held on Thursday 13 February at 7pm in the school Library. Everyone is welcome.
Afternoon Dismissal
At the end of each school day, all students and staff gather in prayer. Our gates are open before this to invite parents, grandparents, carers and friends to join with us. After prayer there are often important announcements and reminders. For these reasons, it is important that no student leaves school until this assembly is over and students have been dismissed at the official time of 3.10pm. Any parent who needs to take their child early can do so by signing them out at the school office.
New Technology User Agreement
Technology resources are available to all CEDoW students. The effective use of technology relies on the responsible conduct of the users who must adhere to the agreement, school based processes and respecting the dignity of all involved in line with our Catholic ethos. This week students received the CEDow Technology User Agreement to sign with parents. Please return the agreement as soon as possible as students will start using their devices on Monday 10 February. Students will not be able to use a device until the agreement is signed. We are required to complete this agreement each year for every student.

Fete Update
Our School Fete (now themed the Family Fun Day) is only 5 weeks away on Saturday 14th March and preparations are in full swing. Rides are booked, and stall coordinators are busy getting everything ready for the big day. Thank you to everyone who has taken on a coordinator role for 2020.
White Elephant Stall
We are still looking for a co-ordinator for the White Elephant stall. This involves receiving and sorting donated goods, pricing and laying out the products in categories for sale on the day. If you think you’d like to jump in and coordinate this stall, please get in touch!
Mufti Days
We have 2 mufti days coming up where students are able to wear plain clothes in exchange for a small donation towards 2 of our fete stalls; The Chocolate Wheel and The Chocolate Toss. The first mufti day is next Thursday 13th February and the second will be on 4th March. A note will come home detailing what to bring in.
Major Raffle
We have been approaching businesses regarding donations of prizes and vouchers towards our Major Raffle and Chocolate Wheel, however, given so many businesses have very generously donated to various bushfire relief programs, many of our contacts have been unable to assist this year (understandably). If you work for, or know of any businesses (or people) we may be able to approach, please get in touch. We are grateful for all donations no matter how small.
Book & White Elephant Stall Donations
We are able to accept donations for these stalls from Monday 2nd March (sorry we can’t accept them earlier). More details on drop off times will follow closer to the date.
Fete Day Roster
In the coming weeks we will put up a Fete Day Roster outside the office where you will be able to nominate a stall and time for volunteering on the day. It really is such a great day to be involved in, so if you’d like to volunteer but are not sure where, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
Thanks so much, you’ll be hearing lots more from us in the coming weeks!
