Dear Parents, Carers and Friends,
I know we keep on saying it...but what an amazing few weeks. It is difficult to comprehend how many changes we have all had to adapt to in such a short period of time. Despite these many changes, at Holy Cross, our focus continues to be on the strategic development and enactment of our Learning Continuity Plan so that our students can continue to grow in their faith and improve in their learning. This is the plan that will take us into Term 2.
This week we asked parents to ensure their children have access to their Class Seesaw App. If you are still having difficulty downloading this app for your child please contact our school office and one of our staff will support you through this.
We have received very helpful feedback from many parents in regards to remote learning and we are using this to continue to refine our processes so that tasks are easier to find and to follow at home. I understand the difficulties that learning remotely can have on families and I appreciate your patience as we move into this new territory. Our refined processes will be shared with you in readiness for Term 2 learning.
Term 2 Resources
Learning packs and resources for all grades will be available for collection from the school on the following days:
Wednesday 8 April 12pm-3pm
Thursday 9 April 9am-11am
Please contact the school office if you will not be able to collect these resources.
Resources can be collected from inside the school gate rather than from the office foyer. We appreciate your cooperation with maintaining social distancing during this time.
Staff Development Days in Week 11
From Monday 6 April - Thursday 9 April (inclusive), Holy Cross will be holding Staff Development Days. No student is required to undertake remote learning at home or school. This information was sent earlier this morning from the Catholic Education Office and was pushed out to parents through COMPASS. This directive means that some of the activities and events we were planning for next week will need to be postponed until Term 2.
Staff Working Remotely
This week our staff began operating on a rotational model that will provide flexibility in terms of the risks that COVID-19 presents. This is a workforce planning strategy ensuring the health and safety of all staff during this time. Staff will now work in two teams that will alternate between being on site and working remotely. This will not affect the level of contact teachers have with students as they will be working a regular school day in either environment.
Thank you again for your support and understanding as we continue to develop our strategic plan moving into Term 2.
Please contact the school office for further clarification of processes or support if required.

Holy Week
This Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week, the final week of Lent. To recognise this important time in our Church calendar, daily videos of scripture, read by Father Paul Clark, will be sent out to families via Compass. The school and parish community hope that in this time these videos will allow yourself, your children and your family to connect with our faith traditions whilst physically not being able to attend school or parish celebrations.
Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday is the day Jesus rose from the dead. This event is central to our Catholic faith. On Easter Sunday, via the Compass app, each student will receive an Easter message from Father Paul Clark and the staff at Holy Cross. We hope you can spend some time on this day to watch this video and reflect on our Faith.
Mass Viewings
Currently, due to government restrictions physical attendance of Mass is not possible. However Bishop Brian Mascord has set up a youtube channel where you can live stream Holy Week.

Masses will continue to be said privately by Father Paul Clark in Helensburgh and throughout the diocese on behalf of the faithful.
