Thank you for joining our Catholic Education Diocese of Wollongong (CEDoW) schools across the Illawarra, Macarthur, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands, and Catholic school communities across NSW, in celebrating Catholic Schools Week for 2019. It's been a wonderful week of open days, activities, masses, liturgies and other special events - including the Diocesan Education Mass, which was a significant highlight of CSW. Catholic Schools Week has showcased some of the fantastic things happening in our schools every day, and has very much highlighted our local Catholic schools - including yours! - as vibrant places of learning, faith, hope and opportunity. Thank you for your involvement.

We'd like to share with you our small Catholic Schools Week video that has been promoted throughout last week. Can you spot the students from your school in this video?

NAPLAN assesses Literacy and Numeracy – important skills that each child needs to succeed in school and life. The NAPLAN tests are designed to help us make sure students are on track with their literacy and numeracy development. Students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 participate in NAPLAN tests for reading, writing, conventions of language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. In 2019 our school will participate in NAPLAN Online.

Students do not need to be computer experts to take the NAPLAN test online. Making sure students have computer skills is part of our school curriculum, and our teachers will ensure your child is familiar with the online format. Swimming

On 11 March Leni from Year 3 competed at the South Coast Primary Swimming selections. Leni just missed out on being selected in the Wollongong Diocese team placing 4th overall her 50m Freestyle event. Congratulations Leni.

Soccer

Congratulations to Luca in Year 6 who has been selected to represent the Wollongong Diocese in Soccer. Luca will travel to Canberra on 10 May to trial for the MacKillop team. Congratulations Luca and we wish you good luck.

FETE UPDATE

Well what can we say - our prayers for nice weather were answered and our dreams of getting the dodgem cars in for all to enjoy were fulfilled! From sideshow alley, sweet treats, the yummy food and wonderful live entertainment, the day was a HUGE success. We can certainly say that 2019 Holy Cross Fete was truly "Out of this World". If you haven't already heard, our little fete has raised over $24,000 and we look forward to seeing this money used for funding our school to benefit our children.

Much gratitude from the bottom of our hearts goes out to all those involved in making the fete a huge success. The dedication and hours put in by each of you is greatly appreciated. From stall coordinators (old and new), parent volunteers, our Principal Mr Dickinson, Holy Cross staff, Bosco helpers, friends and affiliates of our school, and even our parishioners - we couldn't have done it without you, so thank you all so very much.

We've had a blast organising the last two fete's for our wonderful school & students, but it is now time to pass the Fete Co-ordinators role over to the next team, so if this is something you would love to do, please get in contact, you will have our full support.
