OUR STUDENTS RAISING MONEY FOR PROJECT COMPASSION
We are very proud of the following students: Issy F, Cooper W, Lucas R and Anna R. These students gave up their time last weekend to source lemons and make a lemonade stand to raise money for Project Compassion 2020. Their produce, and donations from generous neighbours, made a profit of over $30. Such a generous and compassionate initiative - we are so grateful for, and proud of, your kindness.

NRL INDIGENOUS ROUND 2020
This week, the NRL is hosting their annual Indigenous Round for 2020. The focus of this round is to highlight the importance of understanding and appreciating Indigenous history and culture in order to build a better future. We saw this as an opportunity to tap into a Sport that many of our students are passionate about and use this interest to increase their awareness of Indigenous history and culture. Our teachers did this by exploring the designs of this year’s jerseys using the awesome resources from the NRL website.
We invited our students to wear jerseys today if they owned them and our Indigenous students facilitated an Acknowledgement of Country in each classroom this morning.
GARDENING CLUB IS BACK!
Our Kinders were very excited for their first session of Gardening Club this week - we will be investigating “Living Things” as part of their science and HSIE units. Their first session started with exploring ‘what plants need’ and ‘plant parts and their function’ by looking at what the “Mila seed” needs to become a beautiful “Mila plant” (thanks Mila for being such a happy plant!). Next it was out into The Patch with Rod to sow some seeds that will be used later in the term. Lastly, Kinder thoroughly enjoyed their first ‘Taste and Sniff’ session where they sampled strawberries and blueberries.
The Lunchtime Gardening Club is now back in full swing with students volunteering their lunchtimes to spend some quality time in The Patch. Lunch 1 saw our Leaders enjoying ‘being on the tools’ digging out one of the garden beds while everyone else enjoyed doing some ‘Weed Attack!’ (and we had a LOT of weeds!). Lunch 2 students were treated to some harvest sampling as a way of welcoming Gardening Club back - pulling up baby carrots (washing them of course) and eating them was unanimously voted as “the best thing ever” and “I wish we could do this every Gardening Club”. All I can say is we better plant some more carrots!!!
Stayed tuned for what we get up to next!
