Dear Parents and Carers,
As we come to the end of the 2020 school year, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to all parents, carers and families for their continued support throughout the year. There have been so many changes to our usual arrangements and we gratefully acknowledge your support of these. On behalf of the staff, thank you for your generosity this Christmas season. Your kind words of gratitude and wishes for Christmas have been uplifting.
I would also like to acknowledge and thank our dedicated staff for their professionalism this year and despite varied challenges, maintained the focus on student learning and faith.
I wish to extend my genuine appreciation for the perseverance, flexibility and resilience our students have demonstrated this year. Our staff are so incredibly proud of each and every student and we are grateful that we work and learn alongside such inspiring young people.
As a faith filled community, we are so fortunate to have been led by Father Paul this year. Father Paul and the Holy Cross Parish have been a constant support to our school community this year. We look forward to deepening our connection with Father Paul and the Parish in 2021.
On behalf of the staff of Holy Cross school, we wish you a very joyous Christmas season and a safe holiday break. We look forward to another great year in 2021.
Regards,
Kaylene Duffin
School Uniform, Jewellery and Grooming
Students are to wear their full summer uniform when they return to school on Thursday, 28 January. Students are to wear black leather school shoes and correct socks.
Sport uniform is to be worn each Wednesday and Friday during 2021.
A reminder that hair is not to be coloured and, if shoulder length or longer, must be tied back. Although students may have ‘trendy’ hairstyles over the summer, on their return to school, hairstyles must not include obvious mohawks, mullets, scullets or shaved lines. Nailpolish is not to be worn and jewellery is to be kept to a minimum.
Vinnies Christmas Appeal
The call for donations for the Helensburgh Vinnies went out at the start of Advent and WOW what generosity we have seen. Last Thursday, we had a crazy hair day which raised over $200. Additionally, the giving tree has received so many great gifts. The Helensburgh Vinnies and Staff at Holy Cross would like to thank you for your very generous donations. These donations will allow many people in the local area feel the true spirit of Christmas and see God's love in action.
As a special thank you, all students received a special Christmas holy card from Vinnies.
What a year 2020 has been!
Lockdown and subsequent restrictions this year meant that we could not hold our Mother's Day Stall, School Disco, Dance-a-thon, Dads' Nights, or Parents' Ball. We did, however, manage to squeeze in a successful school fete, despite the drizzly weather and coronavirus on the horizon. And, with the support of our amazing teachers and staff, we were able to hold a Father's Day Stall.
The P&F has continued to support Reading Eggs subscriptions this year. We had a morning tea for kindergarten parents at the start of the year, and organised a thank you lunch for our hard-working teachers and staff when school resumed after lockdown. At our Term 4 meeting last month, we voted to make a donation to the upcoming playground improvements, which should be great for all of our children.
We are grateful to all of our parents for their support of P&F events through the year. We're all looking forward to a brighter 2021.
On behalf of your executive, I wish you all a very happy and safe Christmas.
Mrs Lorraine Ashley, P&F President
