Ash Wednesday and Lent
Next Wednesday, March 2nd, is Ash Wednesday which marks the beginning of Lent. Ash Wednesday is named after the ritual of placing blessed ashes on the foreheads of the faithful and is a sign for those who desire to repent. Ash Wednesday Masses are simple but solemn services. As a school community, we will have a school Ash Wednesday Mass at 12pm. Family and friends are invited to attend.
The season of Lent lasts for a period of forty days beginning on Ash Wednesday and ends with the celebration of the Easter Vigil Mass. During Lent, Catholics take time for self reflection and help those in need. They do this through prayer, fasting and almsgiving. Over the season of Lent, in classes and at whole school Liturgies, students will develop knowledge of these three areas. I encourage you to speak with your child/ren about this important Catholic season and what they are learning about Lent.
Beginning of Year Mass and Commissioning of Year 6 Leaders
With the easing of Covid-19 restrictions we are now able to come together as a school community to celebrate the 2022 school year. We will celebrate with a whole school Mass on Wednesday, March 9, at 11am. Directly following the Mass we will commission our 2022 School and Vice captains and our Year Six leadership teams. There will also be a special blessing for our new Kinder students and students who are new to the school. Parents and friends are invited to join us.

Meet and Greet Meetings
To help develop strong partnerships between parents and teachers, we are hosting face to face Meet and Greet meetings in Week 8. This is an important opportunity for you to share pertinent information about your child with his/her teacher. Your insights into how your child learns and socialises with others can help the teacher get to know your child quickly whilst building a relationship with you. Bookings will be made via the Compass Parent Portal. Parents will be notified once the booking system has been set up.
We strongly encourage parents to make contact with teachers at any time throughout the year. Teachers are only too willing to meet with you or return phone calls. If you would like to arrange a time to meet with a teacher, please contact the school office.

NCCD
The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year. All schools in Australia must collect information about students with disability. The NCCD is a collection that counts:
- the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability
- the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students.
The 2022 NCCD process has commenced. Further information is attached for your information.
